Makeup Artist Maestros:Kabuki

Kabuki

While some may hear the name “Kabuki” and think of Japanese theatre, makeup artists and makeup lovers know that this name belongs to THE Kabuki, makeup artist extraordinaire. My guess is that he chose the name Kabuki based off of Japanese theatre and to be honest, I have no idea what his birth name is.

Kabuki hails from the north of England and was already an accomplished artist in his teens. His work is best known for crazy beautiful, intricate and theatrical makeup but be sure that the looks are impeccably done and expertly applied. Ever seen the Katy Perry video where she looks like an alien? Kabuki’s work.

His work has appeared in just about every influential fashion magazine namely Italian Vogue, American Vogue, Paris Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire and ELLE. His advertising projects includes brands such as D&G, Escada, Zac Posen, NARS, M.A.C, Swarovski, L’Oreal and Alberta Ferretti. He has designed looks for major fashion shows such as Zac Posen, Diesel, L.A.M.B., Jeremy Scott, Miss Sixty and Costello Tagliapietra.

Some of his pop star clients include Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry and the late Michael Jackson.

Now for the best part, feasting our eyes on his work (and what a feast it is!).
